![]() ![]() ![]() Something I’ve been learning is though our feelings for people, places, and things come and go, His love for us does not. ![]() He doesn’t say that we have to hold certain characteristics, live in a certain place, be a certain race, or do a certain thing. God doesn’t choose when he wants to love us fully. You see…God’s love is not like human love. You know…we always hear about God’s love, but what I want to talk about today is God’s unconditional love.Īgape is a word that comes from the bible, being understood as the highest form of love. Rather, love is “anyway” and “even though” and “in spite of”. “I really want to love this person, but they are just too hard to love.” “Well, if I do this, then I might hurt myself.” Somewhere in the back of any human’s mind, there are conditions being listed out of fear, uncertainty, or anxiety. When we try and give out and receive love, it almost always fails us somewhere….because it is imperfect. You see…our heart is the messiest and most complicated part of who we are. “I love this part of you, but this other part needs to change.” “I want to help you, but I’m just so busy.” “I want to love you, but we just live so far away.” It was always a crazy kind of love…the kind that made me search the heights and depths of human experience…the kind that made me experience powerful emotions and believe in better things.īut the thing about all this love I received is that it always came with strings attached, with conditions. ![]() But most of all, I had people that loved me… and they did it well.Īnd it wasn’t a normal kind of love. Growing up, I had a lot of people in my life that changed, influenced, and inspired me. If love is truly the strongest force in the world, then why do we choose to put conditions on it? Gandhi once said, “Love is the strongest force the world possesses.” In fact, I’ve heard it to be the most powerful. I’ve heard it to be unlike any other emotion in the world. ![]()
